Potty Training Stinks!!!!!
I tell you what, my new dress is getting more and more expensive. Treyden is really trying my patience. This must be how Heavenly Father is teaching me patience. Maybe if I quit praying for it Treyden will learn to use the toilet. What do you think? I have found that the only way that Treyden will tell me that he has to go potty is if he is naked. So currently he is running around naked. I have been sort of slacking on teaching him, taking a day off here and there, but I have had it. He will learn to use the potty. I am buckling down (and hating every minute and every mess). Every time I have to clean up a mess I feel like giving up but I really need a new dress, and now new shoes, jewelry, a hair cut and color, a pedicure and a nice long massage. Maybe I will just give him to my mom and tell her that he can't come home until he is potty trained. I don't know if she could last.

That's funny that it's your boy that is being difficult - Macie was by far my hardest! My boys I just let run around in underwear and it only took a week or two. No great advice from me, when I got to my breaking point I would throw Macie in a cold shower. Yes, some would say child abuse, but she hated it (don't know if it really helped), and it kept me from beating her. Good luck!
My friend Brookie potty trains her kids naked. All 3 of them! She said it worked best. AND she had them all of of diapers before they were 2.
Potty training is challenging!
The way that worked for me was to let Caleb run around naked too. It was a great reminder to him and to myself that he wasn't wearing anything so he and I needed to be more careful. Also, for about a week (maybe even just 5 days) I took him to the potty every 15-20 minutes (made for some long days, but it did the trick). If nothing happened we would try again when our next 15 minutes were up. I never made him sit on the toilet for more then just a few minutes. I didn't want him to associate it with anything bad. Occasionally he'd read a magazine or a book, we'd sing songs. I tried to make it fun.
I remember feeling like it was never going to happen, but once I decided to stick to it, he did too!
If for some reason he did have an accident, we could clean it up, and then he had to hop in the tub. I never got mad at him because it was just as much my fault as it was his. Can you imagine being that small and having to turn on and off a little muscle like that?!?!
I think your on the right track! It will happen! Hope I was some help. Hang in there!
I have heard that boys are way harder to potty train and it sounds like you are living proof. I hope that you are able to get it him to use the potty soon. I am sorry I am not more help. GOOD LUCK!
Hmm...good luck. I do NOT envy you. Maybe you should buy your dress now for motivation to continue....
I'm sorry it has been so challenging for you. Hopefully he will catch on soon!
if it makes you feel any better, my 3 1/2 year old isn't even close to being poop trained... he is potty trained (unless he is too busy playing to take the time to use the bathroom- which happens on a regular basis). the only thing that worked for that was every time he went on the potty, he got goldfish. he could stick his hand in the box and pull out as many as he could, and that's what he got every time he peed. that worked well. poop on the other hand is a joke! i've let the ball be in his court. i'm not pushing it because we end up fighting and butting heads... so i'm waiting for him to be ready. he just says, "mom, i need a diaper on so i can go poop." he's fully aware, just not ready! good luck! i hate potty training... that's why i stopped fighting it.
I laughed, but I also feel your pain. I tried several times with katie before it finally clicked. Cleaning up messes is the worst! It finally worked to ask her every 5 or 10 minutes if she had to go potty to remind her. If I left it up to her to tell me there would be an accident for sure. Even now she has an accident every now and then. Good luck! I hope you get to go shopping soon!
Ohhh!!!!! Brandi, I am feeling your pain! But it is worse, my little boy is 3!!! I don't know if he is clueless or just stubborn as a mule! He hates to sit on the potty seat, and the only progress I have made is that he takes off his diapers when they are wet, because I bought him the cheapest nastiest ones I could. I heard that helps encourage them, because they are uncomfortable! It has helped to do it outside, I put the potty seat out there and everything. It helps you keep your cool, because the clean-up is so much easier!!! Good Luck!!! I hope were both shopping for dresses soon!!!!!!
It's wreched but stick with it. All the sudden, one day, you'll have a breakthrough and then the next day will be terrible. It's like 2 steps forward, one step back. But it's SO nice when it's done and you don't have to clean humongous stinky diapers. Good luck!
i was just wondering the other day how it was going for you. bummer it's being such a pain. good luck! i like that your reward is getting bigger as it gets harder :)
We let Gabe run around naked for a while too. Luckily we have a fenced in back yard, so I don't think I was judged to harshly! I think you are doing GREAT, just stick with it and it will all pay off in the end! Man I don't miss those days at all. I can't believe I am going to have to buy diapers again, STINK!!!! Good Luck!!!
I am so sorry, I hate potty training too. Maddy was very hard to potty train, and Kynzee was very easy. So it might be better with Kenlee. Good luck to you. I really don't have any good advice. Just don't force them, wait until it is their idea and it will be a lot easier!!
Oh I feel for you! My girls were cake, but everyone says boys are way harder. I am not looking forward to it. Good luck!!
Pretty sure you don't want to go shopping, massaging, pedicuring, alone, so I will volunteer to go with you. I know its a lot to ask, but I am a good friend:) Jk
Good luck. One of these days he will figure it out. Its just all the mean time that stinks!
Have you tried bribery yet??? Stickers, candy, money, a new helmet. :-) That worked for Ella. Good luck! I promise it is worth it!
